Memories In The Making
From the beginning, we always wished to curate a campground infused with magic and mystery; all blanketed in our own lush Pennsylvania forest. Years of slow growth and improvement have allowed this to come to fruition. Here, you'll find some images of the building process of Memory Lane and our mission moving forward.
Starting from Below Ground
Memory Lane has an intricate network of infrastructure, largely located underground. We designed and installed each line and pipe from the very beginning. Fresh water, electric, television, internet, and sewage all weave beneath the root systems of our miniature forest.
Building The Soil
Our campground began with only a few mature Norway Maples and a large American Sycamore. Since the beginning, we fought against soil compaction from years of misuse and flooding prior to our ownership. With our combined backgrounds in soil science and ecosystem maintenance, we have been able to mitigate the soil with fungal blends to better aid the trees. Our fungal blends added to the subsurface are designed to promote water uptake and root-bourn communication between the living members of our forest system. Trees and plants that evolved together are genetically destined to use the largely invisible mushroom communication network!
Planting The Forest
"A wise man plants a tree whose shade he'll never sit under"
We thought this to be true from the start. However, we now find that we are beginning to meander in the shade of our forest. Nearly 260 trees and shrubs have been planted at memory Lane since 2018. These are accomponied by dozens of transplanted native forest plants such as the rare Jack In The Pulpit, Ladies Slipper, and Jacob's Ladder. All being indicator species, they thrive only in the right ecosystem. Here at our campground, we keep that balance just right. We've noticed many more flowering plants join us on their own. Squirrels, birds, and other wildlife have taken to the campground, and with them comes a more diverse community of plants and insects! Do take a close look, as we have flowers all times of the season.
Magic Enters The Land
There is magic in everything, vast and simple. We hope you take the time to seek it out here. In every hidden crevase of Memory Lane, you'll find a touch of enchantment. A time gone by, or even one that exists elsewhere only in the pages of a storybook is what you'll be transported to. Charm is woven into our purpose here, and we are happy to help spread peace to you all with this, our beloved Memory Lane, as our vehicle.
Walk About The Campground
We've made several paths and islands of nature to explore. While on your way to Knoebels, or even on your evening walk back, do slow down and use your eyes, ears, and nose to pick up on the delicate elements of the world around you. Tread lightly upon the Earth, but be aware of just what it is that surrounds you.
